Armstrong and Contador to train together this month

Cycling greats Lance Armstrong and Alberto Contador will train together for the first time in the Astana team in Spain's Canary Islands this month, Astana said.

Seven-time Tour de France champion Armstrong, who announced his comeback to cycling after a three-year hiatus earlier this year, and Contador, who has won all three of the sport's major Tours, will take part in the November 30-December 8 session on the island of Tenerife, an Astana spokesman said.

Contador, 25, had hinted that he may quit Astana following the signing of Armstrong, 37, but later said he had been given assurances that he would remain team leader.

The Spaniard underwent an operation on Monday to repair an injury to his nasal partition, and has said he hoped to be fit to race in the Vuelta in Valencia in Spain in February.

Armstrong has said he will compete in the Tour of Italy next year, but is yet to confirm whether he will race in the Tour de France.

    I am no fan of Lance myself, hey I am no fan of any pro cyclist in general these days but you have to admit its going to be interesting. (or do you?)

    I know a few people found it a bit boring Lance winning all the time but the story next year is going to be who will win the Tour In 2009 Contador or Lance. or is there a someone else waiting in the wings to pounce and destroy everybody in the TDF 2009.

    Remember the Hinault and Lemond battle in the tour when they road together, well the Lance and Contador show is going to be even better.

    We have yet to see if Lance is strong enough but he has come back from a lot worse as we all know.

    I hope its true that Lance is riding for more than one season as by then all the druggies will be back and we can see the Lance and Contidor machine better know as Astana in full extermination mode.

    What will happen if Landis returns to the Tour --- :-) oh its like a hangover cure gone wrong.

    What will Greg Lemond have to say about that?

    Oh and finally is there a test for stem cell technology cheating ?
