Is Lance Armstrong really going to miss the 2005 Tour to concentrate on other races? Nothing is certPICTURE BY TIM DE WAELE Armstrong to miss Tour in 2005. So went the rumour that was buzzing around the start village in Annemasse ahead of stage 18. Lance Armstrong will not ride the 2005 Tour de France as part of his new Discovery Channel team. But, surely, assuming the American wins his sixth Tour in Paris on Sunday, the American wouldn't miss the chance of riding to win a seventh Tour next July, would he? "He's a rider next year," confirmed Armstrong's team manager, Johan Bruyneel, "but he's not obliged to ride the Tour." Armstrong's press officer, Jogi Muller, also failed to rule out the possibility of the Texan not being at next year's Tour completely: "Lance doesn't know himself yet, so nothing is finalised. He will probably look at things over the next couple of months. "It's possible that he won't ride the Tour next year. Lance will decide if he wants to do it or not," Muller continued. "He will race, but we don't know the programme yet. First we must finish this year's Tour."
