Despite doubts about his form in recent weeks and widespread stories in Spain that he would not be selected for the Tour de France, three-time podium finisher Joseba Beloki has made the cut for the Liberty Seguros team. The decision on Liberty's nine-rider line-up was made after five days of intense training in Cantabria, northern Spain, under the critical eye of team boss Manolo Saiz.

Joining Beloki in the team are Alberto Contador, Allan Davis, Igor Gonzalez de Galdeano, Roberto Heras, Jrg Jaksche, Luis Leon Sanchez, Marcos Serrano and Angel Vicioso. Jan Hruska and Ren Andrle are the reserves.

Veterans Beloki and Gonzalez de Galdeano have struggled for form and results this season, while team leader Heras has hardly set the cycling world on fire in 2005 yet.

Liberty have also announced that Australian Nic Sanderson and Malaysian Ng Yong Li, both 20 years old, will join the team's under-23 affiliate that carries the Wurth name. Both were part of the Cantabrian training camp and will spend three months riding with Wurth.

"Sanderson is a member of the Australian team and is another strong sprinter from his country's production line, while we saw Yong Li during the Tour de Langkawi. He is his country's best time triallists and we have given him the opportunity to come to Europe to support the development of cycling in his country," said Saiz. Ng Yong Li is the first Malaysian rider to compete in Europe.
