Young Lampre-Caffita sprinter Daniele Bennati has won the third stage of the Deutschland Tour, a 227km run to Kufstein that finished in a bunch sprint. The 24 year old, who won the Tour of Tuscany earlier this season, beat stage two winner Filippo Pozzato into second place, with Wiesenhof's Sebastian Siedler in third. Stage one winner Bram Tankink retained the overall lead.

The stage had a dramatic finish that saw breakaways Fabians Wegmann and Cancellara caught inside the last kilometre. All of the favourites for the overall title finished in the pack behind Bennati.

Tomorrow's fourth stage is certain to see some of these favourites emerge from the pack. The 172km run to Soelden finishes on the 2,670-metre Rettenbacher climb.
