Bike Blenheim Palace gears up for 3rd edition

Recreational riding and racing at Oxfordshire stately home

Bike Blenheim Palace is gearing up for its third edition on Sunday 3 October. Over 5,000 people are expected to take part in this autumnal festival of cycling, which is held in and around the grounds of Blenheim Palace near the UK town of Woodstock.

Its title sponsor is Breast Cancer Care, a charity devoted to getting people with breast cancer the best treatment, information and support.

The event features a number of competitions, including a 20km time trial, the Brompton World Championships (over 750 are expected to race), World Tricycle Championships and cyclo-cross races for a number of age and ability categories.

On the non-competitive side, there's a 60- or 100-mile sportive that takes riders through the palace's World Heritage Site park and up into the Cotswolds, as well as family rides of varying lengths, an event village and live demonstrations.

Entry fees start at £5 for kids (under-fives are free) and go up to £35 for the sportive. More information can be found at www.blenheimpalace.com.
