BikeRadar video of the week: Gawton downhill, Devon
Three new downhill tracks will be officially opened at Gawton in Tavistock, Devon, UK on 11 April.
Local trail building group the Woodland Riders received a £50,000 lottery grant and set about building the new trails with the help of Rowan Sorrell. He’s the man behind the epic Cwmcarn and Rheola downhill runs, Brechfa freeride section and Glyncorrwg Energy section.
We visited Gawton earlier this week and were impressed with the riding on offer. Here’s our video from the day, presented by Mountain Biking UK’s Ric McLaughlin. Hopefully it’ll give you a flavour of the great riding on offer at Devon’s newest downhill venue.
Keep an eye on BikeRadar.com because we’ll have more videos from Gawton including a terrible crash, a closer look at the Specialized Big Hit and Iron Horse Sunday we rode, up-and-coming Cove rider Ash Mullane’s bike and much more.

Looks cool. Think we might have to head down that way soon to do a full feature on it in Mountain Biking UK.

Rode here a couple of weeks ago. Awesome! Two technical tracks that link up near the bottom and one more flowing almost single-track style track. the Suzuki sj410 they used to uplift the bikes broke down though so was a period when we had to do the 25 min very steep push up to the top. but they were soon back with a shogun to carry on with. I was fortunate enough to ride here on a warm dry day so there was plenty of grip, it would be a completely different ball game in the wet. Well maintained, plenty of safty netting and friendly staff doing the uplift. Get your asses down there!
