Blog: Cunego and Riccò's blonde ambition

By Gary Boulanger, US editor | Monday, Jul 7, 2008 7.53pm

Damiano Cunego, winner of the 2004 Giro d'Italia and the best young rider's white jersey in the 2006 Tour de France, is prepping himself physically, psychologically, mentally, and stylistically for yellow.

Yes, the diminutive Cunego has dyed his already blonde hair a lighter shade of platinum as he dukes it out for the race lead. His Italy compatriot, Riccardo Riccò, hasn't resorted to using hair colouring himself, but as Procycling's Daniel Friebe found out after Stage 3 into Nantes, Riccò, always good for a quote (or three), may need to consider platinum as well.

Visit Friebe's Tour blog here, and stay tuned for more fireworks from the impetuous Riccò.
