Blog: One Giro stage left

By Gary Boulanger, US editor

For a guy caught a bit off-guard while relaxing on the beach just four-plus weeks ago, Astana's Alberto Contador seems pretty chill going into the final stage of the 2008 Giro d'Italia, wearing the leader's pink jersey and holding a scant four-second lead over his rival Riccardo Riccò.

So chill it's almost scary to think of Contador's potential. Although his Astana team wasn't invited to defend the yellow jersey Contador won in the 2007 Tour de France, he's made the Giro look pretty easy so far. His actions always speak louder than words, in high contrast to the emotional "Let Levi Ride" campaign we suffered through during the recent Tour of California.

Procycling's Daniel Friebe is in Italy, and he captured Contador's thoughts going into the final stage Sunday, during a post stage press conference Saturday evening. Click here for the full transcript.
