Borrow a bike in London

Get on two wheels in September with this new initiative

Halfords are placing bikes around London in September to try and encourage people to switch from bus, tube or taxi and to get on a bike. It'll be a great way to save money, exercise and to see London from a different perspective. The idea is just to hop on [for free] and go.

The bright orange bikes will be dotted across the capital at key commuter hotspots:

  • Canary Wharf
  • Tower Hill
  • Tate Modern
  • Covent Garden
  • Trafalgar Square
  • St James's Park
  • Hyde Park
  • Leicester Square
  • Warren Street
  • Liverpool Street.

'Borrow the bike' users will be encouraged to send photos, texts and emails to borrowthebike.com, where the messages will be displayed. The bikes will be collected, serviced and donated to Bikes4Africa at the end of the scheme. If successful, the 'borrow the bike' initiative may be used in other cities around the UK.
