British four-cross series dates announced

Two new tracks to host races

Dates and venues for the 2009 National Points Series Four Cross have been announced. The first race takes place at UK Bike Park in Dorset on 5 April.

Organisers are promoting the eight-date 4X series as the cheapest mountain bike race series in the UK.

Entry is £25 for each round, which includes two hours of open practice and half an hour of gate practice followed by four motos and the knockout rounds and finals.

Event organiser Chris Roberts said: “We have some fantastic new tracks – a brand new one at South West Extreme in Dorset and back to an old favourite down at PORC in Kent which is being built now with its bridge and super-fast straight.

“There has been growing interest over the past year – we had over 180 at some races last year, with more riders coming to each race.

“British Cycling are getting more and more requests on how to start racing 4X and we have Olympic BMX rider Liam Phillips coming to shake things up in the elite category.”
