Brompton World Championships set to unfold
‘All participants, both male and female, must wear a suit jacket, collared shirt and tie’ may seem to be a rather strange bike competition rule, but it’s one that applies to the third Brompton World Championship, due to take place on Sunday 28th September.
Moving from the previous venue in
Following a Le Mans style start where competitors sprint to their bikes and unfold them, the race consists of two roughly 6.5 km circuits of the palace grounds (open to the public after the racing) with awards for the fastest man, woman, junior, veteran, team and for the best-dressed rider. Up to 500 competitors will take part, overseen by British Cycling to ensure safe and proper race conditions.

Blenheim is opening its breathtaking parkland to cycling for the first time in tandem with the World Championships and the day will also include events such as bike polo, unicycling, cycle skills workshops for children and a mountain bike stunt display.
The park opens from 7.00am, with events and attractions starting at 7.30am.
