A taxi driver accused of reversing into a cyclist, severing his leg, has been refused bail.
Sultan Ahmed, 38, of Maple, Toronto, appeared in court in connection with an incident during which Chris Kasztelewicz was crushed against a pole.
The 36-year-old cyclist has undergone a series of major operations since his right leg had to be amputated after the incident on November 14. He also suffered a fractured pelvis.

Mr Ahmed reportedly showed no emotion as the decision to keep him in custody was read out. He is due to appear in court again on December 1 via video link.
Mr. Kasztelewicz remains in St. Michael's Hospital, where he is coming to terms with the loss of his right leg above the knee.
Mr Ahmed faces six charges, They are:
- Criminal negligence causing bodily harm
- Dangerous operation causing bodily harm
- Fail to stop at scene of accident bodily harm
- Obstructing a police officer
- Aggravated assault
- Assault with weapon - his taxi
