Pro Best Of
The range-topping Pro Best Of has full internal routing for Shimano's Di2 electronic groupsets and a tapered (1-1/8 to 1-1/2in) head tube to beef up front end handling. Plugged into this is Cinelli's new Genius Arch fork. Its shape – it curves backwards below the crown before sweeping back towards to the front axle – is said to help take the sting out of coarse surfaces, reducing buzz through the bars.
The integrated seatmast is topped with a new Columbus clamp system that allows up to 15mm of adjustment using spacers. Because the mast is 31.6mm in diameter, it can be cut down and replaced with a standard seat clamp and post, if desired. The frame weighs in at a competitive 1,050g and the Genius fork 380g. The frame module package includes a colour co-ordinated RAM3 bar, seatmast clamp and headset.
The 2012 Strato is designed with gran fondos/sportives in mind, but with more than a nod to out-and-out racing. The new frame has fully integrated cable routing with special Teflon lined pathways to reduce friction. It also gets a BB30 bottom bracket shell and a new tapered (1-1/8 to 1-1/2in) head tube matched to the same Genius Arch fork found on the range-topping Pro Best Of.
The handbuilt stainless steel XCR remains essentially the same for 2012, with its triple-butted Columbus XCR tubeset, beautiful head badge and polished finish. What makes it more appealing is the fully custom option.
Bootleg Racing Rats
For 2012 the urban-focussed Bootleg Racing Rats has had a practical makeover, making it a more viable option for touring and load carrying. The new triple-butted steel fork has mudguard, rack and low-rider mounts, along with more clearance and cyclo-cross brakes for easier mudguard fitment. There are fittings for a rack and guards out back too, along with a triple chainset for distance riding ease. Equipment on the complete bike includes a Cinelli Vai Bootleg bar, stem, post and saddle, and SPD/flat pedals as standard.
The latest Mash collaboration is the Histogram, which features an even more aggressive riding position than the original Mash track frame. Both head and seat tube angles have been increased to 75°, compared to the Mash’s 74°. The other geometry changes are a shorter back end (388mm vs 395mm) and a 7mm lower bottom bracket. These changes make the Histogram sharper handling and, we'd imagine, somewhat of a handful to the uninitiated.
