Commencal were showing off their 2011 mountain bike range at the recent Icebike show at UK distributors Madison, highlights of which were the new carbon Meta 5.5, 24" wheel Supreme downhill bike and Cromoly steel Absolut hardtail.

The first bike on our list of ‘oh my god, we want to ride this as soon as possible’ was the Meta 5.5 Carbon, complete with Fox Float RP23 rear shock, Fox Float RLC Fit 150mm fork with 15mm thru-axle. SRAM’s new X0 2x10 takes care of shifting, with Formula’s R1 brakes looking after the stopping.

Finishing kit includes Easton Haven bars and stem. Oh, and the price for this carbon badboy? £3299.99.

Staying with the carbon theme, the £3299.99 Super 4 Carbon is the shorter-travel sibling of the Meta 5.5, with Fox RLC Fit 120mm forks, Fox Float RL rear shock, SRAM X0, Formula R1 brakes and Easton EA90 wheelset.

Also available in aluminium, the Super 4 Pro comes with Fox RL fork with 120mm travel, Fox Float RL rear shock, Avid Juicy 3 brakes and a mix of SRAM X7, SRAM X9 and Shimano Deore for shifting. It’s got a Race Face Ride XC crankset and Mavic Crossride wheelset. This Pro version is £2199.99 and the entry level Comp is £1799.99.

  • How much will the new supreme DH be?

  • I'd certainly like to get my hands on one of those Cromo Ramones.

  • CavemanDavvy - £3199.99

  • the kids DH bike looks awesome....if only my nipper was into DH....

  • Christ, those Haven wheels on the Carbon Meta 5 are ugly. They make Sun Ringle rims look subtle. Still, a nice-looking bike. Looks fast.

  • M.Cole thanks, same price as last years. The 2010 has come down in price due now, to bout £2300. is it worth the extra grand ish for the 2011.

  • Was quite interesting how deadly quiet the Commencal stand was at the show, obviously not popular with the dealers, can't imagine why....

  • Richrichington, cos lots of Comencal dealers went to see the range preview in Chatel at the Passportes Du Soliel

  • So absolutely no-one was showing any intrerest in them at all? Not even walking round them and having a look? Even non-dealers not spending 30 secs walking round them? Okay...

  • Do they still crack?

  • Doesn't any one think these bikes are a bit over priced? I mean Shimano Alivio on a bike at £1799.99? My first full sus came with Alivio mechs and didn't cost me anywhere near £1799.99!! Anyway, some nice looking bikes, especially the new Ramones.

  • Ryan93,

Alivio is now 9 speed ;),
