Britain's Nicole Cooke won the Flche Wallonne World Cup event for a record-equalling third time after sprinting clear of defending World Cup champion Oenone Wood on the Mur de Huy. As Cooke went clear to tie Fabiana Luperini's record for wins in the Belgian race, Wood faded to finish fourth behind Germans Judith Arndt and Trixi Worrack.

Cooke and Wood were both part of a small group that tried to get away on the approach to the concluding climb, but they were pulled back as a 28-strong peloton formed by the foot of the Mur.

An attack by high up the climb was countered by Cooke, 23 last week, who went clear to win and move herself into second place in the World Cup standings behind T-Mobile's Ina Teutenberg. The German has 120 points, with Cooke now on 117 and Wood third with 80.
