Crankbrothers taking online reservations for Cobalt XC wheelset
The long-awaited crankbrothers Cobalt XC wheelset will be available this spring, and the company is taking reservations through their website.
BikeRadar broke the news about the company's wheels, headsets and adjustable seatposts during the 2007 EuroBike show in Germany. We also broke the news that Italian bike component juggernaut Selle Royal acquired crankbrothers.
If you're in the US, you can secure your reservation for the Cobalt XC wheels now through www.crankbrothers.com, or through the UK distributor.

So, what DOES one do when you buckle that rim somewhere in the 3 miles between the pairs of spokes?
Also, for £650 a pair they're not exactly feather light are they? I currently run a wheelset of DT Swiss XR4.2 rims, Aireal hubs and CX-Ray spokes. I've no doubt whatsoever that my wheelset is considerably stronger than the Crank Brothers unit... But more importantly, it's nearly (20g more I confess) the same weight as the Cobalt wheels and would only cost £460 to build!
If I'd gone for lighter hubs like a DT 240, I could have saved a further 100g!

Absolutely gorgeous I reckon. who cares about the weight, 688g / 852g isn't that bad anyway. Important thing is they look like nothing else out there and they're hardly expensive are they? wow!!
