Roger Legeay's Credit Agricole team have had their sponsorship deal extended to 2006.
Crdit Agricole have extended their sponsorship of the French squad that carries their name until 2006, announced team manager Roger Legeay on Thursday. The French bank, which has sponsored the team since 1999, will now continue until 2006, and Legeay is also hoping for a further injection of funds. "This proves that the philosophy of the team is good, and that our sponsor is happy," Legeay said. "And the budget is going to be increased in order to really be able to compete in next year's Pro Tour." The team is perhaps best known to British cycling fans as having been that of the now-retired Chris Boardman, and in its previous guise of GAN and Z as that of American three-time Tour winner Greg Lemond. At this year's Tour, the team's hopes will rest on France's best hope for the overall classification, Christophe Moreau, who was eighth in 2003, while sprinter and recently crowned Norwegian champion Thor Hushovd should be in the hunt for the green jersey.
