Following a first win in the ProTour thanks to Leonardo Piepoli at Pal yesterday, Saunier Duval quickly took a second bouquet thanks to veteran climber Inigo Cuesta, who won the 17km mountain time trial to the Andorran resort of Arcalis this afternoon. Cuesta finished 26 seconds ahead of team-mate Piepoli, who closed in on race leader Yaroslav Popovych, who came in fifth and now leads by 20 seconds.

Several of the big names who featured on the stage to Pal were again well up, with David Moncouti third and world time trial champion Michael Rogers sixth. Iban Mayo showed that his form is starting to pick up by finishing a place behind Rogers.

The news was not so good for Jan Ullrich on his return to Arcalis, where he took a famous win in the 1997 Tour. He finished almost three minutes down on Cuesta in 30th place
