Cycling Ireland launches Kelly team

Cycling Ireland , the National Governing Body for Cycling in Ireland, in association with the Sean Kelly Cycling Academy in Belgium, is set to announce the launch of the Sean Kelly Team, a UCI-registered continental racing team, next Monday.

The team, which will be based at the Sean Kelly Cycling Academy in Belgium, is made up of predominantly young Irish riders. Cycling Ireland will use the team as a development tool to help Irish cyclists progress to professional level cycling.

Kelly, one of Ireland's greatest cycling heroes, will act as team director, offering his considerable cycling expertise to Ireland's young hopefuls. He sees the team as the next obvious step in nurturing Irish cyclists through their advancement from competing on a national level to making it in the professional ranks.
