The Dragon Ride, one of Britain's most popular cyclosportifs, has announced a series of improvements for next year. The fifth edition of the event, which is run through challenging terrain in South Wales, will take place on June 15th, 2008.
The start/finish is being moved to a new location out of town to provide better access from the motorway and parking. The route has been revised to make it more testing than in 2007, retaining the double climb of the Bwlch but doing it in the opposite directions and eliminating junctions controlled by traffic lights on the run to the finish. Distances have yet to be confirmed, but last year's 135 and 200 km courses should be a reasonable guide.
3000 riders will be able to take part in next year's event, up from a maximum of 2300 this year. Entries will be available from midnight on December 28th, 2007.
