Italian cyclist Leonardo Piepoli, one of seven riders to fail a drugs test at the Tour de France, saw his hopes of clearing his name shattered last Friday when his B-sample showed traces of banned blood booster EPO Cera, the French anti-doping sgency (AFLD) said.
Piepoli tested positive at the end of the 10th stage of this year's Tour and was then dumped by his Saunier-Duval team.

"You have no idea what the Tour de France is," . "It's a Calvary. Worse than that, because the road to the Cross has only 14 stations and ours has 15. We suffer from the start to the end. You want to know how we keep going? Here..." He pulled a phial from his bag. "That's cocaine, for our eyes. This is chloroform, for our gums."
"This," Ville said, emptying his shoulder bag "is liniment to put warmth back into our knees."
"And pills. Do you want to see pills? Have a look, here are the pills." Each pulled out three boxes.
"The truth is," Francis said, "that we keep going on dynamite."

Ninety nine percent of riders manage to complete the tdf without the use of banned substances.
If these lowlifes can't handle riding clean maybe they should take up crown green bowls or something less strenuous.
Two year bans are no deterrent it seems

not sure where you're coming from.
Let everyone get doped up and see who comes out on top,is that it?
What about those who choose to ride clean?
Maybe we should have drug and non drug events, yeah?

like in car racing...production car and then F1 or Indy......??
No Im not saying that, just that longer bans , lifetime bans, you would still get people cheating. Its not going to ever stop, maybe a year or two and then Bam another cheater gets caught. The tour is a wonderful event regardless of cheats. Cheating in the tour is embedded into the history and culture. That does not mean it should be allowed just that if you love the tour you have to accept you will get cheating in it. Life time bans wont stop cheating, just like life sentences or capital punishment does not stop crime.
Sad but true.....right or wrong ?
