Racing bikes on snow is nothing new, but up 'till now, we haven't seen much of it on our shores. We're set to change that in January when we team up Evans Cycles and Xscape, the indoor ski slope and entertainment complex, to promote the UK's first Snow-X race.
The event will take place on Friday 21 January and has already drawn a huge field of top 4X and DH riders from the UK and abroad, including Steve Peat, Scott Beaumont, Dan Atherton, Gee Atherton, Rob Warner, Nigel Page, Will Longeden, Martin Ogden and Dale Holmes. The riders have been attracted by a massive £1000 first prize, with £500 for second and £250 for third. The racing will involve motos of four riders racing head-to-head down a purpose built course that includes three gigantic snow berms and a massive gap jump, with the winners progressing through to the latter rounds.
Riders will be practicing from 3-4pm with the racing kicking off 5pm. It would be a shame not to use an event like this as an excuse for a party, so riders and spectators alike will be convening in Rockies Snow Bar at 8pm for the prize giving and one or two lemonade shandies (yeah right!).

The Xscape Centre, Castleford, West Yorkshire is an entertainment and retail complex which features in addition to the 190m ski slope, climbing walls, a cinema, bowling alleys, bars, restaurants and the country's leading outdoor retailers. Evans has just opened a new store there, stocking over 500 bikes in their massive showroom.
