With just a week left until 10 more in Moray, the final event in the Benromach Three Tens Series of endurance cross country mountain bike events, organisers No Fuss Events are reporting an increase in participating riders of over 10 per cent on last year.
The news is a welcome sign that the sport has yet to feel the pinch of the credit crunch.
Over 250 riders have signed up for the event, which begins on Saturday 23 August, and No Fuss expects another 50 to join them before the race begins.

Participants can either compete alone or in relay teams of two, three or four, with spot prizes and category rewards up for grabs.
But No Fuss are stressing the emphasis is on fun.
Jim Barron of Moray Mountain Bike Club said, “It's all about taking part. It doesn't matter if each person on the team only does one lap as long as they have fun doing it.”
The course a mixture of forestry and single track aimed at newcomers up to semi-serious pros. It’s designed to suit riders of all abilities.
