Exmoor Beast organisers show softer side with the Exmoor Beauty

New 65-mile sportive provides a stepping stone to its bigger brother

The organisers of the Exmoor Beast, the gruelling end-of-season sportive, have announced a less demanding, springtime sister event – the Exmoor Beauty.

Scheduled for Sunday 22 April and covering approximately 65 miles (compared to the Beast’s 100), the ride is the antithesis of its bigger brother – less climbing, a shorter distance, perhaps a more forgiving time of year and a more leisurely, relaxed atmosphere.

Like the Beast, Beauty HQ will be Butlins in Minehead, which BikeRadar can attest to being perhaps the best sportive Grand Depart in the country. While the Beast is designed for seasoned sportive campaigners, event organiser Marcus Di Vincenzo hopes the Beauty will provide newcomers with an ideal introduction to the sport.

“By staging the Beauty in the spring, conditions should be more conducive to enjoying a ride in the park and, with fewer gradients to face, it will be a far more relaxing experience than trying to tame the Beast," he said. "Our aim is to try and put more of the fun back into leisure riding and give everybody a fantastically enjoyable time out in one of the most beautiful regions in the country."

You can enter the event now by heading over to the Exmoor Beauty website. It costs £27, or £50 if you sign-up to the Exmoor Beast at the same time.
