Picture this for a moment: you’re riding your sexy new red Ibis Silk SL at the local group ride. Everyone wants to know how much you paid for it. "Well, technically, I got it for free," you confess. "Although I did also donate a few bucks to the Lance Armstrong Foundation to fight cancer."
"How," everyone asks, even as they fight to control their envy, "did this person become simultaneously so lucky and philanthropic?"
But they will never find out, because you have ridden off the front on a solo attack that nobody dares challenge. Not when you’re on this bike.
Elden Nelson blogs as the Fat Cyclist, where he writes about whatever pops into his head, as long as it has something to do with bikes.
Lately, however, Nelson’s wife, Susan, has been battling breast cancer. The Lance Armstrong Foundation has been an outstanding source of help and information to them, and so they’re looking to help raise money for the LiveStrong Challenge.
And that’s where Ibis Cycles comes in, donating a top-end road bike, the Ibis Silk SL, to be given away as a raffle.
How to Enter
OK, here’s how you can get a shot at winning the SilkSL: just click here to donate. For every US$5 you donate, your name is recorded on the virtual raffle sheet. And that’s all there is to it. Just make a donation here in any multiple of $5 (such as $5, $25, $50, or $100), and you get a raffle ticket for each $5 you donate. You’re fighting cancer and getting a shot at an exquisite bike. The only way it could be better would be if it were personally delivered by Mr. Chuck Ibis himself. Which he has declined to do. Sorry, you can’t have everything.
The drawing for the SilkSL will be the evening of Saturday, June 21. You do not need to be present to win, and you do not have to be in the US to win (however, if you’re outside the US it’s your responsibility to pay customs)
