First look: Ram nduro mountain bike

Bulgaria’s biggest bike manufacturers Ram have produced the nduro (no, we haven't missed out the 'e' by mistake) to fill the void they say exists between all-mountain and cross-country machines.

Using a Horst link suspension system, the nduro has a RockShox Recon fork up front with 140mm of travel and a 120mm Monarch 3.1 shock out back. The suspension screams 'all-mountain' but the frame lacks the bulk and burliness of a hard-hitting machine.

Ram say it lets you enjoy the parts of a ride that a pure cross-country machine can’t reach. A full test should find out if that's true – watch out for the review in a forthcoming issue of Mountain Biking UK.

Spec highlights on the nduro include Avid Juicy Five disc brakes, a SRAM X-9 rear mech, Truvativ Firex chainset and Mavic 317 rims.

Retailing at £1,599, the nduro is available in Ram’s ‘Custom Factory Finish’, which means you can choose the two colours on your frame with a satin, gloss or pearlescent finish. For more information on the colours, check out the Ram website.

  • ....RockShox Recon fork up front with 140mm of travel and a 120mm Monarch 3.1 shock out back(RAM) for 1,599£ - against.... Fox 32 RL, 140mm, Fox DHX 4.0 rear shock(GIANT REIGN 1) for £1,657.50!!!hahahahaha

  • Giant Reign 1 retails at £2000

  • ...but the Reign is an all mountain bike, so you're missing the point. Wonder how the equivalent Trance measures up? Suspect better!

  • Don't knock it.....the bloke who imports RAM bikes WON the Kona Mash-Up on his wifes 4" travel RAM XC bike...and he's no lightweight rider either!
