First Scottish Bike Show takes place this weekend

The Scottish Bike Show, billed as Scotland's first ever consumer bike show, is set to take place in Glasgow this weekend. There'll be a chance to see and buy the latest road, mountain and BMX bikes and kit, along with stunt displays and have-a-go bike test sessions.

The BSD BMX team, which includes UK riders such as Kriss Kyle and Sean Lafferty, will be holding 20-minute shows every hour, while mountain biking skills outfit The 7stanes Display Team – who Danny MacAskill used to ride with – will pass on their expertise with interactive displays.

The Tweed Valley Cycle Test Track will give visitors the chance to demo new bikes, while there'll be a free Dr Bike tune-up service for anyone who brings their own bike along. The Tirol Austria Forest Track – a wooden course with varying levels of difficulty – will give newcomers an introduction to mountain biking.

Event organiser Rowan Mackie told BikeRadar the event had been a long time coming. “We’ve always had quality cycling events in Scotland, like the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup event at Fort William, but there’s never been a consumer event on this scale before,” he said. “We feel the opportunity is ripe for this bike show, and judging by the interest and the pre-sales for the weekend, we’ve been proven right.”

The show at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow will run from 9.30am-6pm on Saturday 16 April and 10am-5.30pm on Sunday 17 April. Tickets are available from, priced at £7.50 for adults and £5.50 for kids. On-the-door entry will cost an additional £2.
