  • Want to wish the girls and Martin a speedy recovery I hope the hospital food there is ok too!

  • must have been a horrific accident and i'm thankful that it the injuries weren't more serious. wish you girls a speedy recovery. keep the chin up, your in our thoughts :)

  • Same as Cotti - I'd like to wish the girls a speedy recovery. Lets hope we see them back cycling strong soon and thank goodness they are still with us.

  • 'the British Cycling Federation'. Is it 1995 again?

  • Horrific news, a speedy recovery to all.

Belgians are as a rule extremly bike aware, any news on the driver?

  • as Sfelt says, cycling in Belgium is usually a safe affair ... well outside Brussels at least and particularly in Flanders

I'm not familiar with that area but the road between the 2 towns mentioned is the N8, which G.maps shows a cycle path all the way along, so I can only imagine it was a case of loss of control of the car but who knows.

  • Horrible accident, glad it wasn't any worse than it was- speedy recovery!

  • Just awful. I'm glad the injuries weren't worse and a speedy recovery to all!

  • Can only echo all of above.

  • According to the Gazet Van Antwerpen, (in a very short article) the group was riding along the cycle path. For some reason the driver of the car swerved, hitting the group. The driver (a nurse coincidently) said that she hadn't seen the group.

  • I'm sorry to dwell on bad news but this news has been absent from the bike radar site. It's concerning a Driver who killed cyclist and escaped a jail sentence. He had been doing up to 60mph on a Road in Dunfermline, which has a limit of 40mph.

The judge said " do not believe the level of carelessness is substantial enough to merit a sentence of imprisonment."

Why was this not reported by Bike radar? How did you guys miss this? You don't usually take your eye off the ball but you did on this ocassion?

  • Watch out for nurses. I also got hit head on by a nurse on my bike. She was in my lane carelessly way over on my side. My bike got wrecked, but I was not seriously injured as I was shot like a guided missle over the car and landed in the soft dirt.
