The Pure Blood, a rather striking cyclo-cross bike, is the first bike from German bike maker Fixie Inc to hit the UK, the good folks at importer Mosquito Bikes tell us. The steel frame, available in five sizes from XS to XL costs £820, while complete bikes are available for £1745 with SRAM Rival components and £1995 with SRAM Force.

If you're wondering what a company called Fixie Inc is doing making a geared bike, the answer lies in the rather clever interchangeable dropouts. Undo a few bolts and you can switch between a derailleur and fixed/singlespeed setup.
The rest of the disc-brake-only frame is made from butted 4130 AirCraftSteel chromoly steel and the frame kit includes fork, sidepull bottle cage, seatclamp and Jagwire cablestops. Claimed weight is 1,750g.
Other features of the frame include a triangular top tube with internal cables for easy shouldering, laterally ovalised down tube, and a high-position side-exit bottle cage, again to leave plenty of room in the triangle for shouldering. There are bottle fittings on the top tube and down tube for longer rides on the road, ED anti-rust sealing under the splendid retro paint job and 38mm tyre clearance.
Mosquito Bikes suggests the Pure Blood can be used for "headbanging your way around your favourite off-road tracks, pounding the city streets with 2 fingers up to the pot-holes, or going singlespeed just because you can."
