Giant open new flagship store in Bristol, England
Giant Bicycles have opened a new concept store on the outskirts of Bristol. The shop in Bradley Stoke is the company's third Giant-branded store to open in the UK in three months, and the largest yet.
Run by a former independent Giant dealer, the outlet at The Willow Brook Centre aims to offer customers "a high street retail experience and a complete insight into Giant’s cycling world".
It is situated just off the M4/M5 motorways, in the home town of Giant cross-country pro Oli Beckinsale. Further stores are already being planned.
Paul Newman, director of the Giant Store, Bristol, said: “The store has surpassed my expectations, I believe we have the winning formula for the future of cycle retailing in the UK."
Bristol is fast becoming the cycling capital of the UK. It was named as the country's first 'cycling city' last year by the Department for Transport and will receive £23m of funding for improving cycling infrastructure and promoting the benefits of cycling.
Specialized were the first company to open a concept store in Bristol, on Park Street in the city centre. Giant have also opened stores in Liverpool and Cambridge.

Less-than-ideal location, and (like many 'concept stores') it's not exactly chock-full of bikes/kit!

The location is not that bad, its only 2.5 miles from my house, better location than any other cycle shop from where Im stood.
Also, theres a high concentration of young families, cycle commuters and no doubt cycle to work schemes that Giant will cash in on from this one shop.

What's wrong with the location?? it's easily accessible by bike, guessing none of you know Bristol at all. It's situated in Bradley Stoke, a suburb that hasn't got another bike store, so seems pretty sensible to me. As far as I'm concerned the more stores which aren't right in the centre of cities the better.

I cycle past it every morning on my way to and from work. To be honest they've been very shrewed with the positioning of the store.
Extremely easy access to the M5 and there's a large car park.
They're right next to a large supermarket (lot's of potential passing customers with money to spend, tescos is always busy).
No other bike shops in Bradley Stoke (large catchment area), Thornbury and Almondsbury closeby too, as far as I'm aware there isn't any cycle retailers there.
Buses to and from the city centre where the main train station is located also.
Easy to get to by bike.
Looking round the store on Sunday, they seem to cater for everyone, from base level MTBs to 4K+ road and TT bikes.
Before anyone asks, I don't work for Giant and I don't ride bikes made by Giant (although one of the road bikes did catch my eye).

I've been in quite a few flagship stores (inc the spesh one on that "crazy hill" ) and what think would really add to them is some (or larger) technology explainations/demos/etc so you can see the bikes and see/get to understand the tech behind them. Becomes just a shop otherwise.

Shop looks great, but Bristol is quite well supplied with decent, and good looking Bike shops. As will all shops it comes down to the staff.

'Sadley Broke' Love it. I may pop in their to have a browse sometime, but what a shit location. Ok, motorway, food shop, no other bike stores taken into account. But that area doesn't exactly have a high level of disposable income. They could of taken the old Woolworths location on whiteladies. Clifton/redland/and students.
