Gore Bike Wear Sportive report

Riding the Devil’s Staircase in mid-Wales

The second Gore Bike Wear Sportive took place in conjunction with the third round of the Merida Mountain Bike Marathon at the weekend, and the riders took the challenge of the Devil’s Staircase as well as other climbs over the eighty mile course.

Almost one hundred and fifty riders entered the second round of the Gore Bike Wear Sportive Series and event organisers say that judging by the feedback they had a great time out on the hills.

Some riders managed to escape the bad weather having almost a completely dry ride all the way around while others where faced with the temperamental weather the skies in Builth Wells produced.

The next round of the Gore Bike Wear Road Sportive series is going to be in Selkirk taking the series out of Wales for the first time. The Scottish round will have a challenging course which will offer a gentle start along the River Tweed before heading up into the hills conquering Fans Law (460m) as well as passing through The Wiss and the Turner Cleuch Law (380m).
