Gunn-Rita Dahle taking part in British Mountain Bike Series final

Racers at the final round of the 2009 BritishMountain Bike Series in Plymouth next weekend will be joined by a special guest, multiple world champion Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesja.

The Norwegian six-time world and European champion, and Olympic gold medallist, will join riders from Belgium, Australia, Ireland, Canada andNew Zealand, plus plenty of homegrown talent, at Newnham Park on 26 September.

The day's racing is set to be electric, with series titles up for grabs. In the elite men’s race, Adrian Lansley is in pole position but Oli Beckingsale is looking for another win and Liam Killeen could be waiting in the wings to snatch victory.

Only four points separate Mel Spath and Jenny Copnall in the elite women's race, but Kate Potter could still put a spanner in the works.

With plenty of other category titles up for grabs, it’s shaping up to be a great weekend and a sizzling end to a fantastic season.

The 7km course will include the infamous Pipeline for the first time in years, as well as Newnham's famous river crossings. Spectators are welcome.

There's a team relay on Friday, followed by racing on Saturday and floodlit cyclo-cross action in the evening. Trials ace Andrei Burton will be on hand to entertain the crowds and there's a free race for under-12s. Sunday sees the Newnham 60, a non-competitive loop of usually unavailable trails.
