HAPPENING AT FORT BILL
Thursday, May 29, 2003 11.00pm
It's awesome and then some (and it hasn't really started yet)
It was pissing with rain and freezing cold yesterday. Scotland! We thought. What is it like? But today it's T-shirt weather. We're sitting around Loch Linnhe watching the Siemens Mobile X Lake Jump and feeding the mosquitoes. The place is heaving with people already. It's going to be good, I've got a feeling about this one.
Today was mostly practise, plus the qualification rounds for the World Cup 4X competition. What can I say? Lopes is really, really, scary fast, Cedric Gracia goes like chic off a shovel, but the British riders are doing brill-yant.
In particular Bullhead (Dave Wardell) who's not riding the ideal bike for the course but has qualified as second fastest Brit after Steve Peat.
The good news is that Steve's wrist has come good, or he's using the adrenalin to ride through the pain, whatever, he's looking 'kin ace!
The other guy to watch is MBUK/SCOTT's Will Longden. They've been calling him Will the Thrill for a long time, but they aint seen nothing like this. Will is really flying. If he can keep his temperament under control and the bike rubber side down we're looking for some serious action from the boy.
Gotta go now as I'm missing the action and I wouldn't want any mosquitoes fainting from malnutrition while I'm away. Hell, with action this good I don't mind donating a little blood.
