PIC BY TDWSPORT.COM Sports director Brian Holm has prolonged his contract with T-Mobile for another two years which means that he'll be part of the new T-Mobile set-up headed by Bob Stapleton and Rolf Aldag, writes Susanne Horsdal. At the same time, Holm, who has so far only been occupying a part time sports director job, switches to a full-time job and moves up in the ranks of the magenta-coloured squad as he's put more or less on the same footing as Aldag. "I realise that it doesn't get much bigger than this. It's a huge challenge which is also why I've accepted," said the Dane, who met Bob Stapleton during the Tour of California and quickly struck a chord with the American. In more T-Mobile news, Classics specialist Roger Hammond has also confirmed that he's close to reaching an agreement with the German team, although nothing has been signed yet. "I'm currently having talks with them and I'm hoping it's just a few formalities we need to get sorted out. I know the management quite well and I think Brian as a rider was very similar to me," the British rider told procycling. Hammond, who for the past two years has been riding for Discovery Channel, still wants to focus on the Classics and one-day races, and will be hoping to do well in this month's world championship road race in Austria and, more long-term, improve on his seventh spot at the Athens Olympics at the 2008 Beijing Games.
