Gerolsteiner's Danilo Hondo has been suspended by his team for testing positive for an as yet unname
PIC BY TDWSPORT.COM German sprinter Danilo Hondo, of Gerolsteiner, who finished second in Milan-San Remo, has tested positive and has been suspended by his team, awaiting the results of a second dope test. The 31-year-old German was tested during the Tour of Murcia, in which he won two stages. He abandoned after the first stage of the Three Days of De Panne on Tuesday, apparently suffering with flu. "I feel in a state of shock," he said. "I will try to determine the cause of the positive control scientifically in the next few days. I ask for everybody's understanding that I will not be commenting on this before finding out the facts." The tests revealed the presence of a stimulant, as yet unnamed. The rider, who lives in Switzerland, is liable to a two-year ban, and may find it impossible to race in the ProTour in the future if the second test confirms the result of the first.
