Interbike 2011: New shoes from Five Ten

Cyclones - as worn by Danny Hart - and Hwips

Those with a keen eye amongst you will have spotted new British downhill world champ Danny Hart wearing what looked like some high-top Five Ten Hellcat shoes at the Mountain Bike World Championships in Champery. Well these are in fact the new Cyclone SPD shoes from Five Ten.

You get all the usual top quality Five Ten features including the tacky Stealth rubber sole but with the added bonus of the additional support from the high-top style cut.

If they’re anything like the Hellcats then they’re going to be awesome. We can’t wait to try them out, especially with our knackered ankles!

Five Ten Hwip

Us mountain bikers tend to be a hardy bunch, not afraid of ripping up the trails in the pouring rain or axle deep mud, but soggy feet can really put a damper on things. Five Ten’s Hwip will certainly go some way into helping this thanks to the addition of a flap that helps keep the elements out. It uses a double Velcro fixing and is attached to the shoe just above the toe box.

We intend on putting these to the test over the winter and will keep you posted on how they fare.

Keep glued to Mountain Biking UK for full reviews of both shoes soon.
