Italian pro rider Valentino Fois found dead

By BikeRadar | Friday, Mar 28, 2008 3.00pm

The cyclist Valentino Fois has been found dead at the home of his mother in the town of  Villa D’Alme in Bergamo

While the cause of death is still officially unknown ahead of a planned post morten, Fois had recently been treated for drug addiction and depression at a facility near Parma. Last year he had also been in trouble with Italian justice over the theft of several laptop computers.

In 1998 Fois was banned from competing for doping offences following positive tests in the Tours of Switzerland and Poland

  • Some people may have noticed that significant news wires are carrying an account about a St. Paul based “wet house” in Minnesota. A “wet house” allows homeless and at risk alcoholics to stay in a center, but continue to use alcohol as long as it’s at the facility. The theory is that it is better for people who aren't getting sober at least to do so safely. Far more towns are beginning to have similar facilities. The proof is here: More cities consider running wet house centers for addicts
