JeanTex Bike TransAlps takes shape

Final rosters announced for 660km offroad race

The 11th annual JeanTex Bike TransAlp mountain bike stage race is scheduled for July 19-26, with 550 pairings named, including defending champions Karl Platt and Stefan Sahm.

Race participants from more than 40 countries will face 660km in eight stages from Germany to Italy, via Austria and Switzerland.

Like last year, the 2008 JeanTex Bike TransAlp will be organised in five categories. Besides the women, men and mixed category, there will also be a ranking for the masters (age of both bikers added together more than 80 years) and senior masters (age of both riders added together more than 100 years).

Confirmed racers include reigning German champions Platt and Sahm will battle Thomas Nicke (GER) and Silvio Wieltschnig (AUT) of Team Fiat-Rotwild, as well as last year’s third-ranked bikers, Germans Alexander Pscheidl and Christian Schneidawind of Team Texpa-Simplon.

On the women’s side, Denmark’s Noorgard sisters Anna-Sofie and Christin of Team Cube as well as German-French pairing Kerstin Brachtendorf/Daniele Troesch of Fiat Rotwild will start. In the mixed category, Heike Hundertmark will race with Cube team mate Uwe Harter. Former road racer Udo Bolts will team with Werner Wagner.
