According to the Guardian, a high court judge in London has come down in favour of Lance Armstrong iPICTURE BY TDWSPORT.COM A London high court judge has handed Lance Armstrong a significant victory in his libel battle with the Sunday Times and its chief sports reporter, David Walsh. According to a story in this morning's Guardian, the judge has struck out the newspaper's defence in its entirety after Armstrong sued them following the publication of an article last June repeating allegations made in the controversial book, LA Confidentiel: The Secrets of Lance Armstrong. The book was co-authored by Walsh and former L'Equipe journalist Pierre Ballester. According to Mr Justice Eady, the tone of the article was "sensational" and designed to "stir things up". The Sunday Times had been claiming that the story was true. The Sunday Times could now be forced to pay a six-figure compensation sum to Armstrong, although the newspaper could appeal the decision. The article has already been removed from the newspaper's archive.
