Just in: Boardman Pro Carbon Race Prepared road bike

By Matthew Cole | Friday, Jan 23, 2009 11.17am

Nicole Cooke rode this bike to victory in the women’s road race at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games – it’s the Boardman Pro Carbon Race Prepared.

Hanging off the gold medal-winning T800 carbon fibre monocoque frame is some of the highest spec kit money can buy, including a SRAM Red crankset, Zipp 404 carbon fibre wheels and Ritchey WCS finishing kit.

As Cooke says: “Every cyclist can now experience the exhilaration of riding an Olympic-gold-winning bike.”

We have every intention of generating some imitation smog and hitting the streets of the South West as soon as we can. This bike feels special already. And the price? £3,299.99.

  • And Boardman has inadvertently done the bike in 'LIVESTRONG' esque colours! Genius!

  • I'm not sure the bike's in reach of "every cyclist"...

  • You still have to buy it from Halfords though...

  • its a girls bike

  • That's a really nice bike. Except for the frame.

  • This bike is neat, bit of nike snobbery going on i believe.

  • The bike is great, not snobbery about Halfords though. I would never buy a bike from Halfords in it's current incarnation. If I buy a 3 grand bike I want it put together by a professional, not some oik who can't even put my neice's kiddy-bike together (that is from my experience anyway...)

  • Hey rapid_uphill

It maybe a girls bike but that girl would kick your ass in a race!

  • Gotta agree with NapoleonD there. I had to go through Halfords the last two years running as part of a contract they have with my employer and each time, despite my second bike been the £1000 Boardman carbon, Halfords have remained faithfully shocking. At both supplying and setting up the bike, and the ongoing willingness to maintain it under warranty when it is so painfully obvious there is a product defect with the rear rim. Thank goodness for local specialists is all I can say, and if Boardman doesn't get out from under Halfords with his bikes, he is going to lose all credibility despite the pedigree of this particular model or the £5k time trial machine.
