Kloeden named for T-Mobile's Tour of Britain squadClose
The runner-up to Lance Armstrong in this year's Tour de France is set to ride on British shores.PICTURE BY TIM DE WAELE The German T-Mobile squad for the five-stage Tour of Britain (September 1-5) was announced on Friday, and will include Andreas Kloeden, the 29-year-old German who finished second overall to Lance Armstrong in July's Tour de France. The other T-Mobile riders who complete the six-man squad are Kloeden's compatriot Rolf Aldag, the two Italians Giuseppe Guerini and Daniele Nardello, Mario Aerts of Belgium, and Russian Sergei Ivanov. Having been announced as one of the main sponsors of the Tour of Britain last week, T-Mobile have chosen to bring what is a very strong team on paper to the race, which starts in Manchester on Wednesday. If the German national champion's experienced team-mates can ride strongly, Kloeden may well prove hard to beat, and will be hoping to end the race a step higher on the podium in London than in Paris in July.
