Kona has announced that it will be donating 1,000 of its AfricaBikes this year to healthcare workers and other non-profit and non-governmental organizations in different parts of the vast continent.
The scheme, whereby Kona donates one AfricaBike for every two purchased, has provided 500 bikes to the project since it started in 2005. Roughly 2,000 AfricaBikes have been sold around the world in the last year, with all proceeds from sales going into the production and delivery of AfricaBikes to
Kona head honcho Jake Heilbron said: “There is a sense at Kona that cyclists are becoming more aware of their role in the world and how bicycles can contribute to the well-being of people everywhere.”
