The German manufacturer - renowned for their high build quality and balance of stiffness, light weight, aerodynamics and durability - previously concentrated their efforts through online distributor Wiggle.

But in a change of tack they are set to develop a nationwide network of Lightweight IBD (Independent Bicycle Dealers) Stores. It has not yet been revealed which stores will carry the Lightweight brand, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated.

  • Does this mean they could be had at more sensible prices??????????

  • That's great news.

  • "The German manufacturer - renowned for...aerodynamics"

I don't think that anyone buys Lightweights for their aerodynamic prowess. That a copy/paste job from the press release by any chance?

  • More sensible prices? They are probably the most labour intensive wheels on the market, they are never going to be 'sensible' but £2500 or thereabouts for a pair of standards is good value in my book.

  • It doesn't matter if it's UK, US, or Europe market. There's nobody going to buy a $5000 carbon wheelset. What they need to do is lower the price to 50% off.

  • You guys don't seem to get it. In life there are things that are the most expensive in their category either because they are the best or they can just command a premium because of kudos/bs marketing or whatever.

Lightweight NEVER give their wheels away, even Lance had to buy a set and there is a waiting list for these wheels so, even though not everyone can afford or justify them, for the people that can and do, these are some of the most exquisite hand built wheels you can buy.

  • Enve wheels are as light, use conventional spokes and have replaceable spokes, rims and hubs. All maintenance can be done locally.

They are also much more aero than lightweight, which are well down in tests of comparable wheels.

  • totally agree with gossa here, they are reasurringly expensive for a reason; they're great quality wheels ..... I'm glad they're expensive!
