Mini TransWales launched

Three or four-day options introduced to mountain bike stage race

Organisers of the TransWales seven-day mountain bike stage race, which takes place from 14-21 August, have introduced a mini version of the event for those who can’t commit to the full marathon duration.

There’s a choice of two ‘Mini’ experiences - you can either join the event from 14-18 August or from 18-21 August. Riding as a pair or solo, you will take on the same trails/courses as everybody else and receive the same facilities - event holdall, finishing jersey, food, camping, facilities and so on.

Event organiser Mike Wilkens told us: “We have been thinking for a while to run a shorter version of our Trans format and this year’s course lends itself perfectly to add it to the existing Gore Bike Wear TransWales. Riders will get a real flavour of the event through being included in the linking and special stages like everybody else without committing to the whole seven days."

“Now we have the ideal ‘middle distance’ to go from our one day marathon events to the whole seven-day stage adventure.”

The longer four-day event has around 300km of riding with approximately 9,500m of climbing and three special stages, while the three-dayer has around 215km of riding with about 5,500m of climbing and two special stages.

Entries for the seven-day event are still available too, more details of which can be found here
