Minute silence for Steve Larsen this weekend

Thousands of cyclists across the world will hold a minute's silence this weekend in memory of Steve Larsen.

The former Motorola pro road racer and two-time National Off-Road Bicycle Association (NORBA) mountain bike champion died following a running workout in Bend, Oregon on Tuesday. Cause of death has yet to be determined.

Larsen, 39, retired from professional competition in 2003. He had transitioned from mountain bike racing to triathlons, winning an Xterra race and participating in the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.
