New pictures of Wiggle's Verenti range

We revealed last week that online retailers Wiggle were launching a new range of road bikes under the name Verenti, and now they've released some photos of the flagship Rhigos.01 model.

Named after one of the most challenging climbs on the Verenti-sponsored Dragon Ride sportive, it comes with a full SRAM Red groupset, Mavic Ksyrium SL wheels, and parts from 3T and Verenti's own 'Me' range. RRP is £2,899.99, and it should be available by the end of February.

Asked about the thinking behind the range, designer Marc Edwardson told BikeRadar: "What Paul [Bolwell, Wiggle's merchandising director] really wanted to do was produce a range of very well designed sportive bikes. The core idea was that they would be, above all, comfortable, great quality and very good value, with the best components and finishing kit, and amazing attention to detail."

Asked about the name, he said: "I used to work at Condor Cycles, and Wiggle got me in to design all of the bikes for them. At first they were going to be called Kiron but trademark issues meant we needed to change the name. I wanted to build a brand around the idea of truth and being true to yourself.

"I took the French word 'verité' and the Latin word 'veritas', both of which mean 'truth', and, because of the trademark issues I'd encountered before, changed a few of the letters so that the name sounded very similar when pronounced in English but could be protected."

Plans are in the pipeline for another five models to add to the five already unveiled, including a full-carbon bike with mudguards, a couple of women's models and a budget option.

Wiggle offer a seven-day 'ride and return' policy on bikes – and this looks likely to be extended to two weeks in the near future – so if you order a Verenti and are not happy with it you can return it for a full refund.

  • Knowing wiggle there will be none in stock, EVER.

  • A photo showing the whole bike would be nice.

    'Discontinued - no longer available" ... :D

I don't think wiggle can be blamed for the popularity of its bikes.

  • If it is nearly as good as the Kiron Scandium it will be a great bike and a real bargain. I managed to bag a Scandium with extra discount for under £900. It really was a superb ride. Stupidly I sold it so I could buy a more up market Colnago for a lot more cash. I my opinion the Kiron was a better ride.

I dont think the red lugs look too smart on the Verenti though.

  • Are they bonded? Just like the Raleigh Dyna Tech.

  • Not too sure about these but a carbon bike that's designed to take mudguards has to be a good thing - there aren't nearly enough of those.

  • Was this photographer short sighted or something or is this supposed to evoke the spirit of the product. Just take a picture of the bike. It's a bike not feeling. Looks good though and yeah they will be out of stock.

  • I think they look ugly as, that red "gusseting" just weird!

  • Not as nice as my sram red cayo :-)

  • Took delivery of my new Verenti Millook on Friday and hardly got off it all weekend. The guys at Wiggle say that I'm the first owner in the UK so felt it my duty to write a quick review as I know how frustrating it was for me not being able to read any reviews on it before I bought. First of all I bought it blind, despite having a long list of alternatives, because Wiggle offers a 30 day returns policy on their Verenti range so didn’t have anything to lose in trying it. The Wiggle team was very helpful answering my endless barrage of questions. I had tried in the past to buy a Kiron Scandium and, as one of the contributors below said, it was impossible to get one even before Wiggle ran into their trade-marking issues with Kiron. No such delay with Verenti. Ordered on Monday, delivered on Friday. Now to the bike....it goes like smoke even with no upgrading, is certainly as smooth as competitors’ bikes I was looking at, handles beautifully and the SRAM Rival groupset is a pleasure. It wasn’t quite as light as I was expecting but comparable to others in this price range. On the whole it looks great, although not mad about the red cabling. The red lugs are not on the Millook, just on the Rhigos models. I’d have to have a serious falling-out with this bike over the next few weeks to send it back and at the moment very excited to be riding it in various Triathlons and road races this Spring and Summer. Will keep you posted if things change.
