New UK road team launched

By BikeRadar

A new UK road team has been launched which will target the Premier Calendar races and the new Tour Criterium series. The idea is that Team Sabbath/Claytan will develop young riders in an academy atmosphere.

Funded and supported by UK bike brand Sabbath Bicycles and luxury bathroom and kitchen firm Claytan Australia, the 2009 squad will consist of Dave Coulson, Gareth Jones, Greg Roche, Gareth Hewitt, Daffyd Dylan, Richard Sykes Popham, Kieran Frend and Josh Andjelkovic.

The team will ride a special edition version of Sabbath's Monday’s Child road bike and the company's new Time Piece time trial bike.

Greg Roche, owner of Sabbath Cycles, said: “We aren’t looking to follow the well worn format of providing riders with clothing, bikes, some spares, then seeing what happens. We’re looking to offer increased technical support in an ongoing and meaningful way, while also nurturing the younger athletes’ sense of responsibility to themselves, the team and their sponsors.”

  • The bike looks like it's made from sheet metal!

  • That's because it is.......

  • ..by a 12 year old.

  • I wasn't aware that Sunday Bicycles had rebranded as Sabbath. More detail here:

Fair play to them for moving forward and continuing to back a team in the current climate.

  • I thought the whole point of god creating carbon fibre was that you mould bike frames in this kind of shape ......

    ..... that are lighter too.

  • Not that i'm into time trialing, but I think the bike looks great. Not good enough to make me want to go testing though.

  • I was in the Sabbath workshop before Christmas. The frame shown here is a pre-production model they had made up. I think you can expect the production batch to look a bit more polished.

  • I thought the new litespeed blade was fugly, but this, this.... thing!?!

    Oh my.

Still, If I was given it and it worked...

  • mmmmmmmmmm speedy

  • LOOKS AWESOME, i like its purposeful look and bet polished up for those that like there bike to look nice will look sweet. comparable in weight to carbon tt bike i picked it up, and weight aint such a big issue withh TT bike anyway or you wouldnt all be wantin to use those ever so light rear disc wheels would you, titanium with you for life and carbon suspect when you have a knock or a fall. i know which i`d have GIVE ME ONE !!! perfect for sunday( the sabbath) time trials
