The Tour de France is coming to England for the first time in over a decade and London will host the prestigious 'Grand Depart' for the first time ever on Saturday 7th July...

In celebration of this historic event Oakley and the Getty Images Gallery in London have joined forces to stage a stunning exhibition of historic photographs and rare athlete memorabilia from their archives.

From a boy standing by his bike in Basra through to Lance Armstrong fighting through the pain barrier, Tour du Monde is a journey of extreme emotions and experience, a retrospective of cultural images from the 19th and 20th Centuries through to award-winning contemporary sports reportage.

Getty Images' curators have unearthed a unique selection of photographs that immerse you in the world of the bicycle and celebrate the passion of those who use it, whether as a means of transport, a status symbol, an ecological statement or a finely-tuned racing machine.

Oakley, the sports performance brand synonymous with the Tour and its elite level athletes, will be exhibiting the original eyewear worn by legendary riders Andy Hampsten, Steve Bauer, Viatcheslav Ekimov, Lance Armstrong and George Hincapie, and unveiling the Special Edition Oakley 'LiveStrong' Radar frame.

Dating from 1983 to present day, each pair of glasses is representative of the engineering perfection required for Tour success. Lance Armstrong understands that more than most. On show alongside his iconic Oakley M-Frame glasses will be the actual yellow jersey he wore during the first of his seven consecutive Tour victories in 1999.

The Tour du Monde exhibition will take place from Thursday 5th July - Saturday 28th July at the Getty Images Gallery in London (46 Eastcastle Street, London W1W 8DX). Entrance is free.
