Chris Akrigg is sweating on the Boston Red Bull Bike BattleHaving won the Red Bull Bike Battle in Nottingham, Chris Akrigg is riding and riding to hit top form in the Boston Battle on the 24th of this month. It'll be his first trip to the States.
What's going on Chris, haven't seen much of you in the the Championship.
"No, I had a bit of a diving incident that rather slowed me down."
Didn't know you dived.
"I don't, except when I'm drunk. I dived into this reservoir, knowing it supplied a whole city and must be pretty deep. But I chose the bit that was one foot deep rather than 15. Bang. It wasn't a good move."
"Feeling pretty good now and wondering what to expect in Boston.Edd Tongue says it's a kind of hyped up version, more hollering and hooting, but they're changing the format slightly too. Same idea as Nottingham, but they're extending it with dirt jumps and trails, it should be quite interesting."
Hmm, are you going to be needing (gasp) suspension?
"There's no point, it would only put me off I think. It's better to stick to what you know - keep it hard and stiff."
Always a good idea (snigger).
"So to speak."
I hear you've been helping bring Ashton back to life.
"Yep, I've been with him on the World Circuit, helping him all I can. It looked dodgy for a while, but he's definitely coming back now."
Good news. See you when you've won in Boston.
"Results are just numbers, you know."
So's a bank balance.
"Hmmm. See ya."
