Peaty on the Hill

Steve looks forward to the World Championship.
Well it's the big one for Steve Peat, he's been putting up good times in qualifying and is just back from watching Liam Killeen, Britain's most promising XC rider, powering through in the Junior Espoir race. (That's under 23 in civilised language).

"I watched a bit of it and he had every chance of winning till he punctured. And he's got two more years in Espoir. Awesome."

How about the Downhill, was the course as hard as everyone predicted?

"It's cool. It's technical, gnarly, hard - very rough on the bike."

Is it as long as we thought? "Not quite, it's a about 4.40, but that's way better than some of the world cups. I'm enjoying it, feeling good. We'll just have to wait and see what happens."

How about the competition, who's on it?

"Greg (Minaar) looks good, but then so do Fabien (Barel), Cedric (Gracia) and Chris (Kovarik), it'll be an epic."

When does it all kick of?

"Men's Final - 1.30 Saturday 6th. Be all over by tea time."

Nigel Page is out there with BBC Grandstand, filming for a highlight show next Saturday.
